Terms of Service

1. Introduction
These Terms of Service govern the use of the programs and services provided by Empowerment House ("we," "our," or "us"). By booking or participating in our programs, you ("Participant," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by these terms.
2. Services Provided
Empowerment House provides educational programs, workshops, group programs and retreats, delivered both in person and online. Our programs are educational and informed by psychotherapy and current psychological research. They are not a substitute for individual therapy, counselling, or medical or psychological treatment. Individual counselling and psychotherapy are offered separately through Penelope Hamilton’s private practice.
3. Bookings, Cancellations and Transfers
- Booking: Places can be booked via our website, by phone or by email, and are confirmed on receipt of payment or as otherwise agreed.
- Cancellations and transfers: If you are unable to attend, please let us know as early as possible. The cancellation, refund and transfer terms for each program are provided at the time of booking and form part of these terms.
- Changes by us: Occasionally a program may need to be rescheduled or cancelled. If this happens, we will offer you a transfer to another date or a refund.
4. Fees and Payments
- Fees: Program fees are outlined at the time of booking and are subject to change. All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD).
- Payment: Payment is due at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed. We accept payment by the methods shown at checkout.
5. Confidentiality and Privacy
We take the confidentiality of your personal information very seriously. All personal information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is available on our website. Our programs may involve group settings; to protect everyone’s privacy, you agree to keep confidential any personal information shared by other participants during a program. Please be aware that confidentiality may be broken in situations where we are required by law to disclose information or if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.
6. Online Programs
If you are attending a program online, you agree to:
- Use a secure internet connection.
- Ensure a private, quiet, and safe environment for the session.
- Acknowledge that online delivery may have technical limitations (e.g., internet connectivity or software issues).
7. Participant Responsibilities
As a participant, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information when booking.
- Attend scheduled sessions or provide notice in accordance with the program’s terms.
- Understand that our programs are educational and not a substitute for individual therapy or medical care, and seek appropriate professional support where needed.
8. Limitation of Liability
Our programs are educational and are not a substitute for medical, psychological or therapeutic treatment. To the extent permitted by law, Empowerment House is not liable for any damages resulting from participation in our programs, including but not limited to emotional, physical, or psychological injury, loss of personal data, or technical issues arising from online delivery.
9. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or update these Terms of Service at any time. Any changes will be posted on our website and will be effective immediately upon posting.
